Obviously the man knew he had it coming, course his first instinct told him to run. I just can't believe that dude didn't loose his mind when she spit in his face.

In his interview with Dub, Soulja Boy claims that his music sounds different than everybody else and that's why people criticize the music the way they do. "You're used to hearing regular music, but if you hear a Soulja Boy song, you just think 'oh that's a Soulja Boy song'. It's different. People automatically wanna hate or wanna write it off".

In my opinion Soulja Boy is making a weak attempt at trying to explain why he gets hated on so much. First of all, his idea of making 'different music' is off point. Not sounding like anybody else does not equal making different music. Every artist is supposed to have his/her own sound. Many rappers have a distinct sound that makes you recognize their style instantly.

When someone put out a Soulja Boy diss under Eminem's name, a lot of people (including me) questioned whether or not that was really Eminem. Eminem just has a recognizable flow that isn't easily imitated. (side note: LMAO at Soulja Boy for acting like he was really gonna go in on Eminem for that diss, we all know how that would have ended).

People should start separating the skills from the money. Just because he does really well from a business point of view, does not automatically mean that he is an excellent artist. Everybody respects the boy hustle, unless you're a flat out hater. I always enjoy seeing (young) brothers make a lot of money legally. It just so tiresome when people bring up his hustle and the money whenever his skills are being questioned. Maybe he is indeed just a pop star and NOT a rap artist. In that case we wouldn't have to question whether or not his skills are up to par with the hiphop standards.

But I'm finally gonna start that blog I was talking about.

The blog will be about regular hiphop news, but will also feature funny videos, shameless plugs and my occasional rants about the music industry. My aim is to update the blog as frequent as possible, so I will try and keep it interesting.

Independent artists and labels: keep sending me your material..I reserve the right to be picky though, so I can't promise you that I will post everything.

I will also enable comments so you can post your 2 cents about the blog post. But if that produces too many headache, I will shut it down.
